Southwood
Golf & Country Club

Winnipeg, Manitoba

As Southwood Golf and Country Club outgrew its home within the City of Winnipeg it relocated to just south of the city in St. Norbert, Manitoba.  The new course is a Canadian Architect Thomas McBroom design and as construction began Pickseed became the primary seed supplier.

A customized Fairway Blend and Tee Blend were developed specifically for the Southwood Golf and Country Club in order to create a course that would thrive through harsh Winnipeg winters.  Areas of the course were also seeded with Chewings Fescue.

The Southwood Golf and Country Club opens for play spring of 2011.

The excellent growth under cool and hot temperatures and high turf quality make it ideal for greens used for the highest level of golf.

MacKenzie is a multi-use creeping bentgrass; it will tolerate the lowest putting green cutting height but is also excellent for tee and fairway use. It has a medium dark green colour, a fine leaf texture and an overall dense and attractive appearance, even under reduced fertility.  It has been shown to outperform Poa annua in golf course applications.

Seattle Seahawks
Training Facility

Seattle, Washington

The Virginia Mason Athletic Center became the training facility for the Seattle Seahawks in August 2008.  It's the second-largest facility in the NFL.

The three outdoor practice fields are comprised of a PICKSEED custom blend of Langara, America and Touchdown Kentucky bluegrasses. Langara was chosen because of it's very fast spring greenup and great performance under drought stress. America exhibits excellent wear tolerance and has superior summer and fall density. Touchdown is one of the most aggressive bluegrasses on the market – it will persist and continue to spread vigorously through a strong underground rhizome system – tough turf and quick healing from traffic.
